7 signs your website is costing you customers
A bad website rarely announces itself. Nobody emails you to say "I left because your site was slow." They just leave, and you never know. Here are the seven quiet signs worth checking for.
1. It doesn't work properly on a phone. Most local searches happen on mobile. If your menu overlaps text, buttons are too small to tap, or you have to pinch and zoom to read anything, you're losing the majority of your traffic before they even see what you offer.
2. It's slow. People give a page a few seconds before they bounce. A slow-loading site — heavy images, no optimization — quietly costs you visitors who never stuck around long enough to judge the content.
3. It looks like it's from a decade ago, or it's an obvious template. Customers have seen thousands of websites. An outdated design, or one that's an instantly recognizable free template, signals "we haven't invested in this" — even if the business behind it is excellent.
4. There's no clear next step. A visitor lands on your homepage and has to hunt for how to actually contact you or book something. Every extra click is a chance for them to give up and call the next business on the list instead.
5. You don't show up when people search for you locally. A beautiful website that never appears when someone searches "[your service] near me" isn't generating leads — it's just sitting there. Basic local SEO is what connects the site to the customers actively looking for you.
6. The photos aren't actually yours. Stock photography is a tell. Customers can usually spot it, and it undercuts the trust a real photo of your actual shop, product, or team would build instantly.
7. You're afraid to touch it. If updating your hours, adding a seasonal offer, or fixing a typo means emailing someone and waiting — or paying a change fee — your site goes stale, because nobody wants the hassle of updating it.
If two or more of these sound familiar, it's probably costing you more than it's earning. The good news: you don't have to gamble to find out what a rebuild would look like. We build the whole thing first, before you pay anything, so you can see exactly what changes and decide for yourself. Calgary business? Here's what that looks like locally.
